Five pages from the March 1943 Bureau of Naval Personnel Information Bulletin (pages 29–33), documenting firsthand accounts and official reports of naval combat operations during the Guadalcanal campaign. The island had just been secured on February 9, 1943, after six months of bitter fighting on land and sea. Published weeks after the final American victory, this report captures the Navy’s own account of the pivotal struggle for “the ’Canal.”
