Submarine Operations

All Hands Magazine — January 1946

American submarines proved decisive in the Pacific War, sinking more than five and a half million tons of Japanese shipping and crippling Japan’s ability to supply its forward island garrisons. By January 1946, the fleet was transitioning from wartime patrols to peacetime operations, and the All Hands Bulletin reviewed submarine activities as the postwar Navy took shape. This page reproduces the submarine operations article from the January 1946 issue.
